EPA: Long-Term Trends Show Significant Reductions in Power Sector Emissions

Since 1990, power plant emissions of SO2 have declined by 93%, and NOX emissions have decreased by 87%. In 2022, sources in both the CSAPR annual program and the Acid Rain Program (ARP) emitted 0.85 million tons of SO2, a decrease of 11 million tons from 1995 levels.
