Leading outdoor retailer REI Co-op has achieved a significant milestone in sustainable industrial development with its newest distribution center in Lebanon, Tennessee. The facility has been awarded LEED v4 Platinum Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), making it the first of its kind in Tennessee and the largest LEED Platinum industrial building in the Southeast. Collaborative Design and Construction REI partnered with Al. Neyer, an experienced design-build developer, to create this sustainable distribution center. The collaboration focused on integrating environmental stewardship with business growth and community benefits. The facility has garnered attention from the industrial development sector, receiving the 2023 Industrial Development of the Year award from the NAIOP Nashville chapter and a 2024 Urban Land Institute Nashville Excellence in Development Award. Innovative and Sustainable Design Features Renewable Energy: Demonstrating its commitment to renewable energy, REI has used 100% renewable electricity across all operations nationwide for the past 11 years.
